In 1948, The Human Rights Declaration laid the foundational principles for universal human rights. This pivotal document provided a framework for fundamental human rights, including the right to life, liberty, safety and security, freedom of thought, expression, and religion, as well as protection against discrimination, torture, and slavery.
In 2022, archival materials from news and media surrounding the Ukraine conflict, capture the treatment toward displaced individuals which reflects underlying biases, evident in the prioritization of certain groups over others creating racism within the refugee crisis.
Researching the archival materials from 1948 and 2022 and processing them through a satirical spin of dance instruction and incorporating a ballet bar as a focal point in the installation to shed light on the pervasive injustices that persist despite the principles enshrined in foundational human rights documents in the stark realities of contemporary refugee politics.
